Sculpture Walk
Gateway to Mag Mell
"Reminiscent in size and shape of the ancient rock formations to be found in Celtic Europe, and offers a stunning contrast to the habitat that surrounds it, with its colourful finish and monumental presence," - Deej Fabyc.
Liberation
A gift from the artist, Rita Blitt, Liberation was made in 2001 from stainless steel.
Wiyung tchellungna-najil (Keeper of the Light)
Of those works commissioned specifically for the Walk the most significant to date is Chris Booth's towering Wiyung tchellungna-najil (Keeper of the Light). The concept of the sculpture was born after the artist spoke with Ysola Best, a descendant of the Kombumerri people who are on of the traditional groups of aboriginal people from the Southport area.

This installation is based on the idea of viewing the surrounding environment through a set of images that relate metaphysically to the landscape itself.
The Elements
Created as part of a live public art display at Surfers Paradise in the mid 90's, The Elements were later moved to their current home by Bundall Rd on the Evandale site.
Dusk and Dawn
Vincent Martino's work offers abstract interpretations of natural phenomenon. His whimsical sculptures are poetic metaphors that draw attention to aspects of the natural world that have an impact on our day to day existence: namely, the Dusk and the Dawn. He uses painted steel to create forms reminiscent of drawing.
Swamp One, Pearl Two
Melinda Brown has loaned several pieces to the sculpture walk, including this piece made in 1989 which represents a fecund proboscis depositing its virulent egg on land.
Up for the Early
Paul Bacon's sculpture has anthropomorphic qualities - it echoes the upright human form, with arms outstretched, as the title suggests, ready to greet the new day.
Swamp Too
Swamp Too, part of 3 works in a row by Melinda Brown, is a biological periscope probing the waters.
A Silent Prayer
Fumio Nishimura's sculpture is a monument to the many Japanese that suffered at the bombing of Hiroshima, and serves as a warning to future generations.
Swamp Family
Swamp Family is the evolutionary arm, subject to a myriad of forces, precariously holding the virulent egg within its arc. The Swamp series is a visually descriptive appraisal of our arousal from the primordial soup.
IV 00
From artist Susanna Bauer, IV 00 is made from Carved Sandstone and is on loan to the sculpture walk.
Sophia's seat of initiation
Sophia's seat pays homage to female wisdom: the creative, the intuitive and the hidden. The seat is presented as the demi-God Pan and represents our natural selves paying respect to the earth-mother's energies.
Something Given, Something Gained
Something given, something gained offers a more fluid, painterly approach towards sculpture.
Wombeyan Triangles
Wombeyan Triangles is an abstract work that is a unique interpretation of the Australian landscape. It is dominated by geometry and designed so that its form changes in relation to position.
Water
Paul Selwood's sculpture career started 1964 after he enrolled at East Sydney Technical College. Paul was Technical Assistant at the Royal College of Art, England from 1965-8 and worked for Sir Anthony Caro, one of the world's most influential sculptors.
Lodestone
Acquired in 2002 as a gift from Pat Corrigan, Lodestone is painted steel and stone by artist Greg Clark.
Longer Truths
Geoffrey Ricardo's painted copper and stainless steelpiece, Longer Truths, was purchased by the Gold Coast City Art Gallery Trust.
